BEU SGPA Calculator

Calculate your Semester Grade Point Average manually using BEU's credit-based evaluation system.

What is SGPA?

SGPA stands for Semester Grade Point Average. It is a numerical representation of your academic performance in a single semester at BEU. Each course you take has a fixed number of credits (typically ranging from 1 to 4). Your grade in each course translates to grade points on the 10-point scale.

The SGPA Formula

SGPA = Σ(Course Credit × Grade Point) / Σ(Total Credits of the Semester)

The sum of (Credit × Grade Point) for all courses is divided by the total sum of credits for that semester. The result is your SGPA, usually displayed up to two decimal places on your BEU grade card.

Step-by-Step Manual Calculation

  1. 1
List All CoursesWrite down every subject you took this semester along with its credit value (e.g. Engineering Mathematics: 4 credits).
  2. 2
Convert Grades to PointsUsing the BEU grade scale, convert each letter grade (O, A+, A, B+, etc.) to its grade point value (10, 9, 8, 7, etc.).
  3. 3
Compute Weighted SumMultiply each course's credit by its grade point. Add all these products together.
  4. 4
Divide by Total CreditsDivide the weighted sum by the total number of credits you registered for in the semester. The result is your SGPA.

How SGPA Differs from CGPA

SGPA

  • Covers only one semester
  • Uses semester-specific credits
  • Resets every semester
  • Reflects short-term performance

CGPA

  • Aggregates all semesters completed
  • Uses cumulative credits
  • Continuously updated each semester
  • Reflects long-term academic consistency

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a good SGPA in BEU?

An SGPA above 8.0 is considered excellent. Between 6.5 and 8.0 is good, and above 5.0 is a passing average.

Can I calculate SGPA using percentage?

No, SGPA is not directly based on percentage. It uses grade points derived from letter grades, which are based on percentage ranges.

Is SGPA same for all BEU colleges?

Yes, BEU follows a uniform grading system across all 41 affiliated colleges. The grade scale is standardized university-wide.

Where is my SGPA shown on the grade card?

Your SGPA is displayed at the bottom of your BEU semester grade card on the IntelliExams portal, right below the subject-wise marks table.
